Companies
Untick a company to stop its bulls being chosen. All are on by default.

If you use a company at all, you must order at least this many.

Off: the table tells you which companies fall short and nothing
moves. On: the engine plans the whole herd at once so every company
you use clears the minimum. Costs a little herd merit and says how
much. If it cannot be done at all, it says that too.
When bulls are scarce, favour
Applies whenever the engine has to make a trade-off -- a bull usage
cap, an enforced minimum order, or both. Changes the order cows are
served in, never which bull a cow prefers. The

tab says which setting produced the answer

A bull the plan would use fewer times than this is dropped, and his
cows go to their next choice. The Bull Usage tab lists who was
dropped and how many straws they had.
This costs something and the tab says how much:
dropping bulls can leave a cow with no bull left on her list at all.

1. Tell us about the herd
The questions create a starting recommendation; they never lock your final allocation.
Block calving makes fertility the single biggest priority.
This works both ways: say so if you want MORE frame, not less.
We record these but cannot act on them yet.
SireWise has no milking speed or temperament block, so
robot answers do not move your index. They are kept for
the advisory conversation.
This sets your dairy/beef split directly - there is no separate
control for it elsewhere. Your best cows get dairy bulls; the
rest go to beef.
Optional, and it moves no index points. Everything else here is
GENETIC MERIT - what your cows should be capable of. This is the
only place you can tell us what they actually do, which is what
lets Confirm Priorities talk about the gap between the two.
Order matters.
The first one you pick counts for most.
These are the same ten the engine scores, so whatever you pick here
arrives ranked in the same words on

. The three in the second group still add weight to Health, but
SireWise scores no trait for them, so they cannot be ranked.
Guardrails
A guardrail refuses any bull whose daughter would fall below a line you set. These are suggestions -- nothing is applied until you confirm it.
Tick anything you are already managing a problem with - often
something your vet has flagged. Ticking it does not chase
improvement; it stops the engine offering a bull whose daughter
would come out below that cow's own current level.

What this mating plan is worth
Read these figures as a set, not line by line.
Each row is that trait's effect
with every other trait held still
- which is what makes milk volume look like a cost. Fat and protein are already paid for on their own rows, so what is left in one extra kg of milk is water: more to cool, haul and process, for no more solids sold. A bull who lifts milk almost always lifts fat and protein too, and the rows are added together, so the plan as a whole is worth the total at the foot - never any single line on its own.
Also worth knowing before you act on these.
Every increase is the midparent estimate - the offspring's PTA is taken as the average of the cow and the bull, which is standard practice and the same basis the rest of the app uses. It is an expectation for a group, not a promise for any one calf, and it ignores everything management does. The figures are lifetime pounds per daughter at the prices set below, from weights recovered against published
pli
across the 662 bulls in the file (R2 = 0.9961). AHDB re-derives those weights each April; two of the ten (maintenance, daughter calving) are marked weak because their size or sign moves with the model. Full derivation and sources:

Leave these alone unless an upload was read wrongly. SireWise detects most files on its own.
Where your files come from
AHDB reports use Identity as the stable animal key, Line as a display number,
and Herd as the herd identifier. Naming the source lets SireWise map those
without guessing.

Supporting views not in the live workflow
Cow Summary, Top N per Cow, Bull Ranking Chart, Score Breakdown, Risky Pairs and Saved Runs are retained in the codebase. They will be reintroduced only after their role is agreed and browser-tested.
